Four factors that will determine your monthly payments.

1. Amount of the loan - The vehicle purchase price plus all taxes and applicable official fees (state and/or DMV fees) will determine the total amount of the loan. Finance charges are determined through a combination of the amount of the loan, the term of the loan and the APR you qualify for. Shortening the term of the loan and/or adding more down payment will reduce the lenders exposure to risk and could result in a better interest rate (APR) for you, thus lowering your monthly obligation and ultimately your finance charge over the term.

2. Down Payment - The money you pay up front toward the purchase price of a vehicle is your down payment. Often the value of your trade-in vehicle can be used as a down payment. The down payment can be cash or trade-in allowance, or both, and usually represents the difference between the loan and the purchase price. On many new vehicles, the manufacturer may offer incentives in form of rebates. These rebates can be used towards down payment to help lower the total amount financed.

3. Interest rate - All of our retail purchase contracts that require financing, are written at a fixed rate. The fixed interest rate is set in advance and remains the same throughout the loan. As a result, the monthly installment payments are the same each month. Lowering your fixed interest rate can yield lower monthly payments.

4. Length of the loan - Traditionally, the most common finance terms have been 48-60 months (4-5 years), but with these economic times lenders are offering up to 72 month financing on most vehicles to help keep the monthly obligation affordable for the consumer. Qualified borrowers may even be eligible for terms up to 84 months - based on your credit performance. Be sure to ask your Finance Manager what term you qualify for.
